Agarwood Essential Oil

from $375.85

Agarwood Essential Oil is steam distilled from the ethically harvested dark, aromatic heartwood of Aquilaria malaccensis evergreen trees in a private tropical forest plantation in India. Also known as Aloeswood, Eaglewood, Kyara, Ood, Oudh, or Ud, Agarwood Essential Oil is renowned for its sensual, radiant, bitter-sweet, leathery, and animalic notes. It forms the basis of the legendary Arabian perfume called Oud, one of the oldest and most famous incense materials of the Far East.

Agarwood is a dark resinous heartwood that forms in Aquilaria evergreen trees native to Southeast Asia when they become infected by a parasitic fungus (Phialophora parasitica and others). Initially, the heartwood is odorless, light, and pale-colored. As the infection progresses, the tree produces dark, aromatic oleoresin to combat the fungus, saturating the wood. This resin-rich wood is then distilled to obtain the rare, highly coveted Agarwood Essential Oil.

Reported Benefits and Uses

  • Perfumery: Revered in many cultures, Agarwood Essential Oil is a prized addition to natural perfumery, often used in sacred oil blends and for ceremonial anointing. As a base note in perfumes, it provides depth and balance, making it an excellent fixative for massage oils, bath and body products, and natural perfume blends. It is a superb base for expanding your own creations.

  • Skincare: Agarwood Oil is a powerful emollient with a chemical composition that penetrates deeply to deliver robust moisture. Its gentle astringent properties make it an ideal toner, tightening skin, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, and soothing with calming compounds that even out skin tone, leaving it renewed and refreshed.

Its captivating scent is also associated with aphrodisiac properties, stimulating passion and romantic feelings.
